Keke Vilabelda (b. 1986, Valencia, Spain) is a Spanish artist based in Valencia. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from the Facultad de Bellas Artes de San Carlos (Universitat Politècnica de València, 2009) and an MA in Fine Arts from Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, University of the Arts London (2011).
His work approaches landscape not as a static image, but as constantly changing matter. Focusing on the processes that shape both natural and urban territories—construction, wear, and transformation—Vilabelda activates physical and chemical phenomena such as pressure, evaporation, fracturing, and sedimentation. Painting shifts from the representational to the experiential: rather than producing an image, he establishes conditions for the surface to register real tensions. Each work emerges from the dialogue between control and contingency.
Conceived as bodies exposed to internal and external forces, his pieces embody the landscape through strata, cracks, and material alterations. Against the progressive dematerialisation of contemporary experience and the intangible immediacy of the screen, Vilabelda restores weight, density, and friction through a hybrid language, advocating a direct relationship with time and the minimal processes that sustain—and jeopardise—the balance of the environment.
